Teams
A team is a group of users who share access to projects, billing, and settings. Every project belongs to exactly one team, and every member of a team inherits the permissions granted to their role within it.
Creating a team
Any signed-in user can create a team. Open the team switcher in the top-left corner of the dashboard and choose New team, then enter:
- Name: shown to members across the dashboard. Up to 64 characters.
- Slug: a unique identifier used in URLs, such as
acme-engineering. Lowercase letters, numbers, and hyphens only. Slugs cannot be changed after creation. - Region: where team data is stored. This cannot be changed later.
The user who creates the team becomes its owner.
Adding and removing members
Owners and admins can invite people from Settings → Members. Enter an email address and choose a role. The invitee receives a link that expires after seven days.
To remove a member, open their row in the members list and select Remove from team. Their access ends immediately. Resources they created remain in the team and are reassigned to the owner.
Roles
Each member holds one of four roles within a team:
| Role | Can view projects | Can edit projects | Can manage members | Can manage billing |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Owner | Yes | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Admin | Yes | Yes | Yes | No |
| Member | Yes | Yes | No | No |
| Viewer | Yes | No | No | No |
A team must always have at least one owner. Ownership can be transferred from the members list.
Switching teams
If you belong to more than one team, use the team switcher in the header to change context. Your selection is remembered per browser. You can also reach a specific team directly by URL:
https://app.example.com/t/acme-engineering/projects
Managing teams with the API
Teams can be created, read, updated, and deleted through the REST API. All requests require a bearer token with the teams:write scope.
curl -X POST https://api.example.com/v1/teams \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $TOKEN" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"name": "Acme Engineering", "slug": "acme-engineering", "region": "eu-west-1"}'
A successful request returns 201 Created with the team object. See the API reference for the full list of endpoints.
